Aposematic

In this piece, I wanted to combine multiple line types and their associated emotions into a single movement. I developed this abstract “sketch” using only black slate tesserae with sandstone and terra cotta colored thinset. This resulted in a wonderful and unexpected lenticular movement of color against the black lines as the viewer moves around the piece suggesting the coloration warning signals of the animal world.
