Reef Gap

Reef Gap

Geological history has told us that the Earth has endured 5 major species extinctions. In each of those, the living reefs completely disappeared for millions of years. Today, human caused global climate change is raising the temperature and acidity of our oceans which is damaging the coral reefs and the associated rich diversity of plants and animals. Research is showing that, unless humans reverse this trend, “all coral reefs will cease to grow and start to dissolve”. Experts are saying that this and other impacts to other affected indicator species demonstrates that we are at the beginning of the 6th major extinction.
